Testimonials for the Birdhouse

Birdhouse

This has been a wonderful week in the bird cottage! My family and I have enjoyed our days so much, hiking, swimming, and eating two delicious meals at Beals Lobster Pound! You recommended great hikes for us including the Bubbles, Acadia Mountain, Gorum Mountain and we thank you so much for suggesting we drive up Cadillac Mountain to see the sun rise.
Thanks for a great week,

What an absolutely wonderful find. Our visit to Acadia and Anna's Quietside Cottages, and meeting your wonderful family will be a highlight of our summer! Marc your insight and advice about what to see and do during our stay was invaluable. Thank you for taking the time to make us feel welcome. We loved the garden. What a gift to your guests! We had a fabulous sea kayak with the Maine State Sea Kayak Tours right up the roads and XYZ restaurat was great. They make the best margaritas we've ever had! Congratulations on your recent nuptials. Heres to many years of happiness and our return to your property very soon.

Wow! Maine is beautiful. There are trees everywhere, birds that wake you up with their lovely songs and peace and quiet. We had a blast and hope you will too. Some of our favorite activities are as follows:
* Guided hike of Cadillac Mountain, check Acadia Weekly for times/dates. The park ranger who led ours was very informative.
* Sawyers Market -great place to pick up unique groceries to make a fabulous Maine dinner. Also got a lot of things (blueberry wine, special marinade) to take home.
* Wild Acadia Fun Park -great place to take the kids. Mini golf, water slides, go karts, rope course and more.
* Maine State kayak tour -Amazing! Our wonderful guide helped us every step of the way. We took 2.5 hour sunset tour and got to kayak 4 miles.
* The Log Cabin restaurant -great home style food (BBQ, seafood, pasta), attentive staff and a decent size gift shop.
Hope you have as wonderful a time on your Maine vacation as we did on ours.

Another fantastic trip to Southwest Harbor! All but one down day due to rain, the rest we biked, hiked, swam (at the YMCA) and made the best of the fine weather.
We hiked all the big mountains in Southwest Harbor (Flying mountain two times).
Burning Tree remains the best restaurant in the area (maybe the world), and Sawyers Lobster, is the place to go if you want local lobsters at local prices!
Hoping to be back this time next year.

We had 6 people in our group. The Birdhouse worked as well as we could have asked!
* lobster? Beals over Thurston!
* Buses.. get used to them, fast and they work out great!
* Ride the bus to Sand Beach or just go to Echo Lake
*Take the what watch tour.. it's as amazing as it's built up to be
We thoroughly enjoyed our week on Mount Desert Island, and here at Southwest Harbor in the Birdhouse. We did not come close to experiencing it all.

Our family enjoyed the cottage!
We really loved MDI and all it had to offer. Even though we were here a week it seems like we definitely need to come back to see more, when the youngest is older with more stamina to hike more ;-)
We enjoyed Beals for our family reunion big dinner gathering.
We went out fishing and lobstering. Didn't catch much fish but with our group of 13 we ended up with 20 lobsters to take home!!!
We boiled them up with equipment from the Hospitality Suite and made awesome lobster rolls!!
Rented bikes, hiked trails, boiled lobster, played games by the fire pit, shopped in Bar Harbor, and had Ben and Bill's ice cream, ate at Stewman's Downtown yumm!!! Bought souvenirs, ate at the Chart Room, and had ice cream across the street, played in the Hospitality Suite, and ordered pizza from Little Notch Bakery.
Thank you for your hospitality1 The cottage was perfect for the 5 of us.

We came up for a family reunion and had 30 -35 people here all week. We went kayaking, hiking, deep sea fishing, had a lobster bake with the lobsters from the fishing trip, went on a lighthouse cruise and swam at Echo Lake. We had a fabulous time.

We enjoyed our stay in the Birdhouse. It was the perfect size and was equipped with all the necessities for our trip. We toured MDI, went sailing, kayaking, hiking and indulged for the first time, in real seafood. The weather was gorgeous and the hammock was great!

This was our first time in Maine, and it won't be our last! Anna's Quietside was the perfect place to stay, thank you guys! For the next group, go check out "Thunder Hole" in the park, do a kayak tour (sea kayak tours up the road) you won't regret it!  We are going to buy our own kayaks because we had so much fun!

What a wonderful stay we had at Anna's Quietside! It was exactly the type of place we wanted to stay while experiencing Maine. We went to Cadillac Mountain, Sand beach, Echo Lake and stood on the cliffs of Beech Mountain. What a view!

Every person we met in Maine was so friendly and helpful. Sometimes the most special things we experienced were the little things like spending the afternoon in the beautiful library, and lighting a fire every night, and playing games, or watching a movie as a family.
Annette, Ceasar and Marc were wonderful hosts and we would love to come back some day.
We will miss Maine!

My 2 kids (ages 8 + 4) thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Birdhouse. They loved their cozy room. My daughter loved exploring the cottage and finding all sorts of creative play things. They both loved all the toys, books, and videos at the Hospitality Suite. The woodstove is a wonderful amenity -providing warmth and a great relaxing replacement to TV.
Other activities that we enjoyed on our 4th trip to MDI: Jordan Pond and popovers, hiking around the pond, taking the Cranberry Cove ferry to Islefors -eating at the Islesford Dock Restaurant, antiquing in Somesville, hanging out in town (Southwest Harbor) -Quietside pizza yum. Sawyers Market afforded us many meals by candlelight at home.
The grill was used frequently. Thanks for a relaxing and cozy stay.

A wonderful place, extremely comfortable and relaxing. Big pluses were the DVD library and the vegetable garden.
Thanks so much for having us!

We enjoyed the cottage. The decoration was fun and pleasant -we checked the birds in every room. It was pleasant also to use the woodstove. We lit it briefly each morning before most of us got up, and each evening for the late readers in the family. It warms up the great room quickly and makes a comforting rushing sound.
Sights, sounds and memories we will take away... Fresh green beans from the garden, and the courgettes -the frogs and ducks on the little pond (27 one morning early -so dense it looked silly), and of course the rest of the island... a hike over the Bubbles, walks (and breakfast in a cold gale) on Jordan Pond, tide pooling at Wonderland, Bass Harbor Light at Sunset, almost getting caught out on the big rocks at Sea Wall as the tide came in, breakfast at Sips in the village, walking into town for blueberry muffins, sunset on Cadillac Mountain, and a hike over Flying Mountain to Valley cove -where sailing boats were silently tied in the cold evening sea.
We had a wonderful vacation.
